Michael D. Merner (Mr.) Chairman
Mr. Merner's 18-year career in Japan is centered on the travel industry. He has founded several leading companies in Japan such as NCN, the largest educational travel company sending Japanese students to the United States, as well as White Door, a leading player in Japan in the overseas wedding industry with the largest market share in Europe. A graduate of Harvard College in Economics and with an MBA from Harvard Business School, Mr. Merner is fluent in English, Japanese, and French.
Yoichi Hayase (Mr.) President
Mr. Hayase began his career at Hill & Knowlton (Japan) with PR responsibilities for a broad range of multinational companies, and with a unique focus on the travel industry. He has been responsible for public relations in Japan on behalf of Qantas Airways, American Airlines, Tourism New South Wales, and Walt Disney Attractions. In addition, Mr. Hayase has also handled PR for The GAP, E&J Gallo Winery, Sony Pictures Entertainment, the New Zealand Kiwi Fruit Marketing Board and the Japan-Australia Foundation, among others.

Kimihiro Asano (Mr.) Account Director
Mr. Asano is a destination marketing specialist who started his career at Miki Tourist, the leading Japanese land operator in Europe. He was also Marketing Manager at the Irish Tourist Board in Japan for six years, with responsibility for consumer promotions, and travel trade marketing. Mr. Asano has lived in Europe, and is fluent in English.
Naoya Asao (Mr.) Assistant Account Executive
Mr. Asao earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Alaska at Anchorage and began his career in the travel industry at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. At Marketing Garden, Mr. Asao acts as a Travel Trade Assistant supporting marketing programs targeted to travel agents throughout Japan. Mr. Asao is fluent in English.
Kumiko Hasegawa (Ms.) Director, Public Relations
Ms. Hasegawa has a unique marketing background, covering 20 years of experience in advertising, consumer promotions and research, including positions as Communications Director at a global advertising agency and at a top European fashion brand. She has been Involved with a large number of brand development projects, including the Japan market entry for a high-end Fashion brand and has an extensive network in mass media, fashion and lifestyle. Ms. Hasegawa graduated from Aoyama University, acquired her MBA from Washington State University, and is fluent in English and Japanese.

Atsushi Hashimoto (Mr.) Account Director
Mr. Hashimoto has a 20 year career in a broad range of fields in the travel industry, including travel agent experience with Nippon Travel Agency, hotel industry experience with Four Seasons Hotels, and airline experience with Eva Airways and Air Tahiti Nui, all from a marketing perspective. Mr. Hashimoto graduated from Nihon University, and is fluent in English having lived in Sydney for several years.
Naoko Hashizume (Ms.) Account Manager
Ms. Hashizume spent a total of 6 years at an international advertising agency, TBWA (Japan), prior to joining Marketing Garden. She is a media specialist having spent 4 years at the Media Buying section of the firm, later having been promoted to be a Media Planner. Ms. Hashizume has handled media planning for Tourism Malaysia in Japan as well as Nissan and others. She is fluent in both English and Japanese.
Junko Kajihara (Ms.) Account Executive
Ms. Kajihara has had a long career in radio, where for 11 years she not only produced original programming, but also managed major promotional events, designed promotion strategies and managed all aspects of major FM broadcasts. Kajihara-san subsequently obtained significant PR experience at a major Japanese PR company where she handled a variety of global accounts, primarily in consumer products/fashion, and was also active in media training. She has a Master's degree from Sydney's Macquarie University and is fluent in both English and Japanese.

Vanessa Hayes Kiyomiya (Ms.) Assistant Account Executive
Ms. Kiyomiya earned her Master’s degree in East Asian Studies from the University of Alberta in Canada, focusing on the markets in China and Japan. After graduating, she received a scholarship to study Mandarin at Beijing University. Following her arrival in Japan, Ms. Kiyomiya worked as a Coordinator of International Relations for the Japanese Government, promoting Japan as a travel destination for both Japanese and foreigners alike. She is a native English speaker who is fluent in Japanese and proficient in Mandarin.
Ako Kondo (Ms.) Assistant Account Executive
Prior to Marketing Garden, Ms. Kondo worked at several travel agencies where she gained wide range of the experiences, including arrangements of diplomats' business trips and development of overseas travel packages. She also has an experience of working for an airline company. She currently works as an information office for the Marianas Visitors Authority account.
Tomoko Koyama (Ms.) Assistant Account Executive
Prior to joining Marketing Garden, Ms. Koyama was an editor for a local guidebook/magazine to introduce Guam's tourist attractions and facilities targeting Japanese tourists. She graduated from Kansai Gaidai University, and during attending the university, she also studied in the U.S. as an exchange student.

Minako Motoki (Ms.) Account Manager
Having worked for Tourism New Zealand for 7 years, Ms. Motoki has significant expertise in international destination PR and marketing. After spending three years at Tourism New Zealand's office in Osaka as Marketing Officer, she moved to the Auckland office in 2003 where she was responsible for incoming media visit organization and support and development of the Japanese media website for Tourism New Zealand. Prior to joining Tourism New Zealand, she worked at several leading Japanese tour wholesalers, and gained outbound travel product expertise. she represents a unique combination of travel agent marketing and PR expertise and is fluent in both English and Japanese.
Kazumi Nakamura (Ms.) Assistant Account Executive
Ms. Nakamura began her career with the organizing committee for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. She then spent 3 years at a major TV network in Tokyo where she developed her media/PR skills. She has a personal interest in Celtic culture and has been studying Irish music for 3 years.
Rina Nakaya (Ms.) Account Executive
Ms. Nakaya has 10 years of working experience at major Japanese travel agencies, including Kintetsu International and United Tours. having graduated from the University of Indonesia (BIPA), she is fluent in English and Japanese.

Tomoko Okada (Ms.) Account Manager
Ms. Okada has extensive experience in destination/tourism PR and marketing, having worked on behalf of the Fiji Visitors Bureau in Japan for seven years, managing both travel trade marketing and public relations activities in Japan. She specializes in securing unpaid coverage on behalf of overseas destinations, with a particular strength in broadcasting media/network television. She is fluent in English and Japanese.
Nanako Shibuya (Ms.) Account Director
Ms. Shibuya has extensive experience in destination promotion, with a unique 15-year career at the Guam Visitors Bureau in Tokyo, and 3 years with the Jamaica Tourist Board in Japan. She has a deep understanding of tourism marketing in Japan and has a wide network within the industry. Ms. Shibuya leads the Destination Promotion Division at Marketing Garden.
Emiko Shinozawa (Ms.) Account Executive
Ms. Shinozawa began her career as a sales representative in charge of the foreign and military sections at IACE TRAVEL at Atsugi Naval Military Base. She was in charge of coordinating packaged tours and internship programs in the travel industry in Las Vegas, Nevada where she was responsible for coordinating the events and packaged tours for JTB, NTA and HIS. Ms. Shinozawa obtained her Bachelor's Degree in International Politics and Economics at Aoyama University, and is fluent in both English and Japanese.

Aya Sorimachi (Ms.) Account Manager
Prior to joining Marketing Garden, Ms. Sorimachi worked at JTB Corp, the world's largest travel agency, as a sales representative in charge of product promotion for over 500 agents in the Kanto (Tokyo) area. At Marketing Garden she is currently responsible for GDS sales programs on behalf of a leading hotel chain. Mr. Sorimachi is fluent in both English and Japanese.
Wataru Takaku (Mr.) Account Manager
Mr. Takaku is a specialist in the hospitality industry and travel trade marketing. He has had a range of sales and marketing experience with leading travel industry players in Japan including HIS, the fastest growing travel agency in Japan, UTELL Reservations service, and IndeCorp, an independent luxury hotel group in Japan. Mr. Takaku has passed the state examination as a certified general travel service supervisor, and is fluent in English and Japanese.

Before joining Marketing Garden, Ms. Tokuda worked as Marketing Manager for a non-profit organization headquartered in the U.S., where she planned and managed international educational programs in North America and Japan. She earned a bachelor's degree in Marketing Communications from Emerson College in Boston, and is fluent in both English and Japanese.

Takashi Yamada (Mr.) Account Executive
After graduating with a Bachelor of Business in Tourism Management from Victoria University in Australia, Mr. Yamada began his career at Kuoni Travel, a leading tour operator in Europe. With more than five years experience in various positions in the tourism industry in Australia, Italy and Japan, he is currently working on his master's degree in online marketing from Monash University in Australia. Mr. Yamada is fluent in Japanese, English and Italian.
Hiroko Yoneda (Ms.) Account Manager
Ms. Yoneda is a marketing and media relations expert who has managed PR and marketing campaigns in Japan for a variety of export and commerce-related businesses in Japan. She has developed marketing campaigns in Japan for food products,and handled a wide variety of PR programs for major international conglomerates at Weber Shandwick Worldwide (Japan). At Marketing Garden, Ms. Yoneda is responsible for trade and investment promotion on behalf of the company's destinations and for corporate media relations.

At Marketing Garden, Ms. Dong is responsible for Consumer Promotions and other marketing events in the Greater China market. Ms. Dong has a diploma in Business from Australia, and is fluent in English and Chinese.
Tony Liu (Mr.) Marketing Director, China
Mr. Liu has had a significant career in airlines and destination marketing, first with 7 years at Qantas Airways where he was in charge of the Qantas Shanghai office and for sales distribution in the entire Eastern China region as District Sales Manager. Prior to joining Marketing Garden, Tony was Marketing Manager for Tourism Victoria’s office in China, one of the most dynamic Australia government tourism offices in the region. Tony has an MBA from Australia, and is fluent in English and Chinese.
Mary Ma (Ms.) PR & Marketing Manager, China
Ms. Ma has worked in outbound tourism promotion in Shanghai for the past decade, with a particular specialty in promoting Australian attractions and destinations in the China market.  While at PTC Express Travel, she increased its?bookings to Australia by 30-fold in one year.  For the last three years, Mary has been Manager of Travel Industry Sales & Training in the East China region for a variety of major Australian tourism attractions.  She has very strong relationships with the travel trade in East China and a particular expertise in outbound travel promotion.

Mr. Sun has had an extended career in the outbound travel industry in China, including 3 years at a leading outbound travel agency in China specializing in the North American markets. He spent 8 years at Air Canada in sales in the China market, rising to Supervisor of the Sales Division. Mr. Sun is a specialist in travel trade/destination marketing, and taps into broad travel trade networks. Mr. Sun is fluent in English and Mandarin.
Tina Yao (Ms.) Public Relations Director, China
Ms. Yao has had extensive marketing and PR experience in the travel/hotel industry, including 5 years in sales and 10 years in Marketing/Public Relations. She has held positions in PR at Crowne Plaza Hotels and Novotel, before acting as Marketing Manager at Cosmopolitan Magazine in Shanghai. Ms. Yao is widely considered a leader in the field of destination PR in the China market, having managed complex China PR programs on behalf of Hawaii, New York City, Monaco and other world-class destinations. Ms. Yao is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Wendy Zheng (Ms.) Public Relations Manager, China
Ms. Zheng's experience in PR began in journalism with several years experience as a journalist and ultimately as an editor, most recently as Duty Editor of Spring Aviation Travel Magazine.  Her PR experience is heavily based on travel and tourism PR, particularly in the aviation sector.  Ms. Zheng is a scholarship student from East China Normal University, and is fluent in English and Mandarin.
Jacky Zhu (Mr.) Travel Trade Marketing Manager, China
Mr. Zhu has worked in the aviation sector in China for the past decade with Northwest Airlines and Garuda Indonesia Airlines, with a particular specialty in building agent relationships throughout East China, especially with outband travel agencies. As a result of her long working experience with GVB, has close relationships with Korean media and the travel trade. Ms. Choi is a graduate of Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada, and is fluent in English and Korean.

Ms. Choi has a dual-specialization in both marketing and PR as a versatile marketing manager. Prior to joining AVIAREPS Marketing Garden Korea, Ms. Choi worked as a Sales & Marketing Manager for over 4 years at Pacific Island Club Korea, where she handled a wide variety of travel trade and consumer promotions, workshops, trade shows, and MICE programs. She has very strong relationships with the travel trade and with consumer co-op partners in Korea and is well known in the industry. She graduated from Griffith University in Australia with a degree in Tourism Management and is fluent in English and Korean.
Stephanie Chung (Ms.) Account Executive, Korea
Ms. Chung has extensive overseas tourism marketing experience, including in Sales & Marketing for a 5-star hotel in London responsible for the European and Russian markets. She has a Business degree from the International College of Management and Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, lived overseas for 7 years, and is fluent in English and Korean.

Jinha Joh (Ms.) Account Manager, Korea
Ms. Joh has had years of experience in the hotel and travel PR industry, including as travel & culture editor at two of Korea's leading luxury consumer magazines, Haute and Noblesse. She has worked at Hyatt Regency Saipan as Marketing Communications Manager, including development of a new Korea website which generated an extra 7,200 nights annually from Korea. Ms. Joh was also Sales & Marketing Manager for Novotel in Korea responsible for marketing, on & offline promotions and MICE marketing. Ms. Joh is completely bilingual in Korean and English and has a Master's Degree from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
Emily Kim (Ms.) Country Manager, Korea
After beginning her career at Four Seasons Hotels, Ms. Kim has established herself as a leader in destination/trade promotion in Korea. At Edelman Public Relations in Seoul, Ms. Kim was Senior Account Executive responsible for public relations in Korea on behalf of Qantas Airways, British Airways, the World Gold Council, and the Australian Meat & Livestock Co. Ms. Kim was subsequently with Hyatt Hotels for six years, initially as Sales Manager, and subsequently as Manager for Korea Business Development on behalf of the Hyatt properties in Guam and Saipan, raising Guam's share of the outbound Korean market from 4% to 12% in two years. Ms. Kim brings a unique combination of travel trade networks and PR expertise to tourism promotion campaigns in Korea. She was educated at the University of Washington in Seattle and at Aoyama Gakuin in Tokyo and speaks fluent English.
Julia Koo (Ms.) PR & Manager, Korea
For 5 years, Ms. Koo worked as a PR & Marketing officer at PIC Korea, where she coordinated and supervised consumer promotions, events, workshops, trade shows and creative collaterals throughout Korea. Ms. Koo has extremely strong networks with media, travel trade and consumer co-op partners from a wide range of industries and is very well known within Korea's outbound travel industry. Irene Lee (Ms.) Country Manager, Korea
Ms. Lee oversees all public relations activities of AVIAREPS Marketing Garden Korea and is recognized as a leading PR specialist in Korea on behalf of overseas destinations. For the past 4 years, Ms. Lee has been responsible for designing and supervising all PR programs for AVIAREPS Marketing Garden clients in Korea. Prior to joining the company, she was responsible for managing all marketing and PR activities for Guam Visitors Bureau in Korea, one of the most important visitor bureaus in the Korean market. During her tenure, Korean visitor arrivals to Guam increased more than sixfold in just five years -- from 20,269 in 1998 to 128,307 in 2002. She is best known for her aggressive media programs, initiating and developing over $120 million of media exposure value on the basis of negotiation and networks. Ms. Lee is also known for her innovative Honeymoon Campaigns which lead to a 40% increase in honeymoons to Guam by Koreans, and her effective use of Korean celebrities in various promotions. She has studied for 7 years in the United States and is fluent in English.
Rina Park (Ms.) Marketing Assistant, Korea
Prior to joining Marketing Garden, Ms. Park has worked as a PR assistant at a leading PR firm in Korea. At Marketing Garden, she is responsible for handling PR activities for Outrigger hotels as well as Tourism British Columbia. Ms. Park graduated from Han Yang University in Korea with Bachelor's Degree in English literature and Public Relations.
Liz You (Ms.) Account Manager, Korea
Ms. You is a specialist in media relations, marketing programs, and consumer/VIP promotions. She is best known for her particular strengths with print media and TV networks. Before joining AVIAREPS Marketing Garden, she was responsible for managing marketing and PR activities for Hyundai Department Store, where she handled VIP promotions, event marketing, public relations and advertising programs. Prior to working for Hyundai, she built her career at leading PR firms including Edelman Korea and KPR & Associates. She holds a BA in International Studies from Ohio University and is fluent in English and Korean.

Mr. See has a distinguished career in tourism and trade promotion in Asia. He was China Manager in Beijing for a range of U.S. companies in China before assuming a post as Taiwan Market Representative for the Philippine state-owned casino. For five years, Mr. See was also Chief Representative for Philippine Tourism in Taiwan, responsible for all Taiwan marketing and promotional programs. Mr. See has served as a member of several high-level government delegations including the Philippine-Taiwan Joint Economic Cooperation talks, the Philippine-Taiwan Air Talks and Agreement, and is a recognized specialist in both trade and tourism promotion. He is currently President of the Association of National Tourism Office Representatives (ANTOR) in Taiwan. Mr. See obtained a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, and is completely fluent in English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Tagalog.

Marlene Wen has been involved with National Government tourism and economic promotion offices for the last 12 years, having spent 11 years with the Economic and Cultural office in Taiwan for Manila, Philippines, involved in a variety of bilateral and promotion issues between the Philippines and Taiwan. Mary has an illustrious career spanning over 26 years in the Middle East travel industry. Prior to joining AVIAREPS Marketing Garden Mary was the Business Development Manager of one of region’s leading luxury hotel & resort groups; Emirates Hotels & Resorts, with responsibility for wholesaler and travel trade marketing strategies, promotions and programmes. Prior to that role, Mary spent seven years in management at the region’s leading travel wholesaler; Emirates Holidays, as Manager for the Gulf and Middle East Region, during which time she sourced preferred travel agents. With further experience as part of a Middle East Destination Management Company, hotel and airline, Mary brings a unique range of high-level experience in travel trade and tourism PR. Mary is fluent in English, Arabic and French.
